Cass lives on a sheep station on the Hay Plains with her farmer husband and two young children. She’s always had a keen interest in plants, gardening and the environment. Cass started working in the garden industry at 16 years old with Robert Boyle, of Robert Boyle Landscaping Design, in his personal garden and nursery. She studied a Bachelor of Biological Sciences majoring in Botany at La Trobe University and later a Dip Ed in Secondary Science.
Cass has worked in numerous wholesale, biotech and commercial nurseries including LaTrobe Wildlife Nursery (Nangak Tamboree), Bayer Cropping Science, Western Plains Flora and Boomaroo Nurseries. She briefly taught for a few years as a Science teacher in the local high schools before having a career working for the NSW government on a threatened species project focusing on grazing management of native pastures with landholders. Cass also has an interest in fashion, cooking and design.
Cass started building her online presence Outback Gardens on Instagram when documenting her journey of creating a dream garden in the Riverina from a blank canvas. Her audience trusts her expert advice and is inspired by her creativity.
